Thank you for your interest in Workbench. Here is our privacy policy explained, in plain English. Below is the actual legal policy, referenced in this Q&A.

What personal information does Workbench collect?

When you create an account, we collect the name, last name, and email associated with that account. We use that information for administrative purposes and to create your profile, which will be associated with content you produce using your account.

Does Workbench share or sell my personal information?

Privacy is essential to us and we will at no point share or sell personal information without your consent. However, please note that by connecting your account to a third-party service such as Google Drive, you will be asked to connect your Workbench account to Google. Google’s privacy policy is here.

What if I share content publicly?

Personal information that you include within any user content will be made available to other users of the service. If you publish a public workflow, anyone will be able to see the name and last name associated with that content. If you post a public comment, others will be able to see the first and last name associated with that comment.

Is the data I upload private? Who owns it once it is on the platform?

Any data or user content you upload to Workbench is kept private by default unless you choose to share it with collaborators or publicly. Likewise, any workflow of analysis you produce using any data on Workbench is kept private by default. Only you can decide to share it publicly or with other collaborators, publicly or privately.

Additionally, you retain all copyright and any other proprietary rights that you may hold in the user content that you post to the service. You can decide at any moment to delete proprietary content from Workbench, and we will immediately delete it from our servers.

Do you collect information about what visitors do on the site?

Yes. Like many site operators, we collect information that your browser sends whenever you visit our Site. This log data includes information such as your computer's Internet Protocol ("IP") address, browser type, browser version, the pages of our site that you visit, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on those pages, and other statistics.

Like many sites, we use Cookies to collect information. You can instruct your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. However, if you do not accept cookies, it will not be possible to log into the application and create or edit workflows.

We use that information as well as non-personal usage information to understand how users use Workbench, to ensure that the services are up to date, to improve the Services, and enhance the experience of Workbench. Additionally We may use third-party analytics services that collect, monitor, and analyze this data.

Can public content be shared outside of Workbench?

Yes. Any public content can be reproduced and used by other users or Workbench for promotional purposes (If you do something awesome with our tools, we are likely going to promote it). Others can use it too.
